Brittaney Melaragno, LMFTA

Hi there, My name is Brittaney (she/her/hers), and I’m am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate (MFTA). I am a family-systems-trained therapist who believes, "We cannot change what we are not aware of, and once we are aware, we cannot help but change." Together- we look into patterns throughout your life to help you understand why you might be feeling or acting a certain way. Let’s work to alleviate your symptoms and fix the root of the issue. There is no one size fits all approach to therapy; I integrate various approaches to therapy unique to my clients. My style is both warm and direct. I work from a strengths perspective (we are already enough, and we have all of the internal resources we need!) helping clients to utilize the tools they already possess, to get through life's challenging times.

I specialize in working with the perinatal and postpartum population, I have advanced training through Postpartum Support International. (both levels)

I have a special interest in working with couples experiencing infertility including those going through medical treatments and alternative family building options (IVF,IUI and Surrogacy), miscarriage and high risk pregnancy. I understand how scary, isolating and unfamiliar it can be to need to seek advanced support to grow your family. I would love to show you and your partner what you have to offer each other during this challenging time.

I truly want to join you on your journey before pregnancy, during pregnancy and in the postpartum period. It is my hope to help new parents and parents-to-be manage anxiety and create positive change. Together we can bare the storm of emotions that accompanies infertility or becoming a new parent.

I earned my MA in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Saint Joseph in West Hartford, CT. Prior to that, I earned my Bachelor’s degree from the University of Connecticut in Biochemistry with a minor in Psychology. Before becoming a therapist, I was in the Dental and Medical space which fueled a passion for biology and medicine. This coupled with my love for psychology and mental health is why I am dedicated to the medical/biological and psychological aspects of perinatal mental health and infertility. As an associate license clinician, I work under the direct supervision of Rebecca Ruitto, LMFT License number 1780.

A Little More about Me

I am a mom, and it was hard for me to become a mom. So above all else, you are talking to someone who GETS it. Outside of being a therapist, I enjoy spending time with my husband, daughter and our friendly k9. I grew up in Anchorage, Alaska and moved to the East coast for college. Being a mom and supporting other moms are two of my greatest joys.

On the weekends you will most likely find me taking a yoga class, scoping out local farmers markets, hitting up a polo game or trying out a new restaurant or recipe at home, I am a big foodie!
